Recipe Time: Sweet Potato Pie I
I love to cook! You can find my new posts on here titled “Recipe Time.” I will get my recipes from random places and post them on random days. I am not going to have a set day to post them because honestly I will forget to do it. You can always come back and look through my blog because I will tag them under recipes.
Over the past week I was given some sweet potatoes from my husband’s grandad. I let them sit there until my husband bugged me enough to the point I gave in and decided to make him a pie. (I wanted one too I just had to make time.) I had a recipe before to make a sweet potato pie but with us moving this year I had to look for a new recipe. My favorite place to look is Allrecipes.com. I love looking there because it is nice to see the reviews of other people and what they suggest you should change. Sometimes I change things and other times I just leave it as is.
This recipe I found had a ton of reviews. So I decided I would give it a try.
Here is the picture my hubby took with his phone. We always add cool whip but this was so yummy you don’t need the extra sweetness.
Sweet Potato Pie I
1 (1 pound) sweet potato (which is about 2 cups cooked)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
1.Boil sweet potato whole in skin for 40 to 50 minutes, or until done. Run cold water over the sweet potato, and remove the skin.
